Information

The Naxos Olive Museum is situated in the charming village of Eggares, which is located in the northern part of Chora. Housed within a stone building consisting of two rooms, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditional process of olive oil production and showcases various olive products.

The first room of the museum provides visitors with a comprehensive display of the tools and equipment used in the olive oil production process. Here, one can learn about the traditional methods employed by locals throughout history. The second room is dedicated to exhibiting a wide range of olive products, showcasing the versatility and importance of olives in the local culture.

Of particular interest is the olive press, which holds historical significance. Officially dating back to 1884, though believed to be much older based on testimonies, the fully restored mill serves as the centerpiece of the museum.
